Greenery To Showcase Climate-friendly Solutions At COP29
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- Greenery Inc announced it will bring its innovative solutions for low-carbon agriculture to the 29th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29), at Azerbaijan from Nov 11 to 13.
According to Greenery in a statement, the company will be hosting a seminar and an exhibition on the topic of transitioning to low-carbon agriculture and animal husbandry at COP29.
Greenery chief executive officer, Yoosik Hwang said the conference brings together world leaders to shape solutions for a sustainable future.
"We are here to show that agriculture is not just part of the problem of global warming. It is a crucial part of the solution,” he said.
At COP29, through two case studies of transitioning to low-carbon agriculture, Greenery will be introducing new ways to combat climate change in a seminar on Nov 12.
The first case study will explore a smart farming system that can both reduce methane emissions and conserve water, by monitoring paddy water levels in real time. It was developed as a joint flagship programme by South Korea’s Ministry of Science and information and communications technology (ICT) and the National Information Society Agency.
Meanwhile, in the second case study, Greenery will demonstrate how livestock waste, a major source of greenhouse gas emissions from farms, can be converted into biochar, coined from combining “biomass” and “charcoal”, which can sequester carbon for around 100 years, making it highly effective for carbon reduction.
The talks in the seminar will be followed by a panel discussion on cutting-edge technologies and methodologies for reducing agriculture's carbon footprint and visitors will be treated to eye-opening presentations about sustainable farming practices during the exhibition.
COP29 marks the latest gathering of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), where governments and organisations worldwide come together to address pressing environmental challenges. This year's conference continues to advance the global dialogue on greenhouse gas mitigation and sustainability.
Headquartered in South Korea, climate tech company Greenery, provides a range of net-zero consulting services including climate action planning, life cycle assessments (LCA), and climate risk management.
