KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 (Bernama) -- Primient announced it has agreed to acquire the remaining ownership interest in Primient Covation LLC (Primient Covation), establishing Primient as the sole owner of the company and marking a new phase of growth in the bioeconomy.
Primient Chief Executive Officer, Jim Stutelberg said the transaction reinforces the company’s commitment to strengthening its leadership position in biomanufacturing.
“Owning 100 per cent of Primient Covation will play an important role in accelerating our growth in industrial biomanufacturing, which has become an increasingly important strategic focus for the United States and the rest of the world,” said Stutelberg in a statement.
The acquisition represents the next step in Primient’s strategy to expand its biomanufacturing platform and builds on recent initiatives, including its partnership with Sustainea and the creation of the iPROOF venture.
Founded in 2000, Primient Covation supplies bio-based renewable solutions to a range of end markets, including cosmetics and personal care, textiles, fashion, coatings, and functional fluids. The company is known for its expertise in biomanufacturing and fermentation and produces Bio-PDO (1,3-propanediol) under the Zemea and Susterra brands.
Primient Covation was previously a jointly controlled venture with Huafon Group and operates at Primient’s facility in Loudon, Tennessee. Primient and Huafon expect the transaction to close in the first calendar quarter of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Primient is a global leader in biomanufacturing, producing corn-derived products used across a wide range of applications, including food and beverage, packaging, industrial solutions, and animal nutrition.
