MARY KAY AWARDS SIX GRANTS TO YOUNG WOMEN TRAILBLAZERS IN STEAM FIELDS WORLDWIDE

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- As a global leader in women’s empowerment and innovative science, Mary Kay Inc has awarded six recipients under the 2022 Young Women in STEAM grant programme.

The recipients were awarded for making tremendous contributions to the STEAM fields worldwide, specifically science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics.

The grant recipients are Angela Busheska (Macedonia); Fengyun Chen (China); Farzana Alam Eshita (Australia); Aruna Sherma and Jingyuan Xu (Germany); and Eizelle Yee (Philippines).

“At Mary Kay, we celebrate young women who are embracing higher education and careers in STEAM areas as we continue to help narrow the gender gap and bias in scientific and related fields.

“It’s no secret that women are underrepresented in STEAM industries, and we want to help change that by providing impactful grants to encourage young women to continue their pursuits in STEAM-related fields,” said its chief innovation officer, product and science, Dr Lucy Gildea in a statement.

The recipients of Mary Kay’s 2022 Young Women in STEAM grant programme are highlighted on the company’s global social media channels and will receive US$2,500 (US$1=RM4.41) grants to assist with their current or future STEAM endeavours.

Launched in 2020, the Young Women in STEAM grant programme and social campaign is to help shift the perception of “the face of science”, and encourage young women to pursue STEAM paths.
