Philippine tropical storm: WorldRemit waives service fees for 7 days
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 -- WorldRemit, a leading digital payments platform based in London, is waiving its fees on money transfers to the Philippines, in light of the recent tropical storm.
According to a statement, customers will be able to send money from across the world to the Philippines with no WorldRemit service fees for seven days, beginning Nov 4.
Goni, which is also known as tropical storm Rolly in the Philippines, has led to multiple deaths and caused widespread devastation, leading to over 370,000 people being displaced and the destruction of thousands of homes.
“With communication lines down, we know that many in the diaspora will be anxious to connect with family and friends back home through sending money transfers,” said WorldRemit Country Director for the Philippines, Earl Melivo.
“Waiving our fees on transactions to the Philippines is our way of showing our solidarity and support to the global Philippine community.”
Through the WorldRemit website or mobile App, customers can send support to their family and friends in the Philippines free of charge using the code ‘PHRolly’ to complete the transaction. Terms and Conditions apply.
