MPC-CB CERTIFIES PRODUCTIVITY SPECIALISTS TO BOOST MALAYSIA'S COMPETITIVENESS
APO Secretary-General, Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata, launched the MPC-Certification Body in the presence of the Director General of MPC, YBhg. Dato' Abdul Latif Haji Abu Seman, and the Deputy Director General of MPC, YBrs. Dr. Mazrina Mohamed Ibramsah. The MPC-CB was developed to certify professional individuals as Productivity Specialists for their expertise in improving productivity and efficiency across all sectors of the Malaysian economy.
KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysia takes a significant step towards achieving its productivity goals with the launch of Malaysia Productivity Corporation - Certification Body (MPC-CB).
MPC-CB was developed to certify professional individuals as a Productivity Specialist for their expertise in improving productivity and efficiency across all sectors of the Malaysian economy.
The Director General of Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), YBhg. Dato' Abdul Latif Haji Abu Seman, said the certification program aims to promote the use of productivity solutions and best practices in the public community, companies, industrial sector, and government sector to boost the country's competitiveness and productivity.
"MPC has been at the forefront of driving productivity growth in Malaysia for many years. Our mandate is to help Malaysian companies, organizations, and industries become more productive and efficient, and to promote the adoption of best practices in all aspects of their operations," he stated during his speech at the launch of MPC - Certification Body (MPC-CB).
The role of MPC-CB is to certify highly skilled individuals whose work primarily concentrates on productivity solutions and productivity-related activities such as consultancy, training, promotion, and research. The certification cycle lasts for three years, during which certified persons are expected to maintain and update their knowledge and skills.
Through the assistance of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), the productivity specialists will be certified and recognized at the international level.
MPC believes the Productivity Specialists recognized by MPC-CB will contribute to achieving a productivity level of 3.6% by the year 2030 to help the firm level and industrial sector.
Meanwhile APO Secretary-General, Dr. Indra Pradana Singawinata said the accreditation provides opportunities for other NPOs to learn and benchmark against best practices, assisting the NPOs of Indonesia, Mongolia, and Vietnam to become accredited.
“The NPOs of India, I.R. Iran, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Turkiye are in the process of becoming accredited within this year. The APO Accreditation and Certification Program aims to expand the role of NPOs from training providers to CBs in productivity-related areas. It enhances the reputation of NPOs as leading productivity organizations in each member, and aims to ensure the quality of productivity experts and practitioners in APO members.
“The certification process includes training, examination, subject matter assessment, and validation of competence through project completion and reporting. This process ensures that certified persons are thoroughly assessed by CBs before serving clients, which are mainly in industry,” he said.
The Secretariat has partnered with the MPC for more than two decades in developing productivity specialists. The annual Development of Productivity Specialists training course has been conducted in Malaysia since 2001, and participants learn how to apply productivity enhancement tools and techniques from international and local experts, mostly from MPC.
