KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 (Bernama) -- Kasumigaseki Capital Co Ltd (KC) has announced the establishment of its Malaysian subsidiary, Kasumigaseki Capital (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (KC (Malaysia)), headquartered in Kuala Lumpur.

This marks KC’s first foray into the ASEAN region, where it will launch logistics operations centred on frozen and chilled warehouses as well as on the development of automated frozen warehouses.

“We are taking on a challenge in ASEAN’s logistics market, starting from Malaysia, by fully leveraging our expertise on frozen and chilled warehouses and automated frozen warehouses in Japan.

“With the development of a new model of logistics infrastructure from Malaysia, we will aim to bring innovation to our global supply chain,” said KC (Malaysia) Director and Executive Chairman, Ryo Sugimoto in a statement.

Meanwhile, its Managing Director, Toshihiro Ohkuma said Malaysia continues to grow with diversity of human resources and a geographically favourable location, and it is great to start KC’s first overseas logistics business in this country.

“We will build a new logistics infrastructure system while working closely with the local community. From there, we hope to develop a supply chain that extends to the world and achieve sustainable growth together,” he added.

In addition, as its first project in Malaysia, KC has executed a sale and purchase agreement for the acquisition of a plot with a major Malaysian developer that is wholly owned by a Bursa Malaysia-listed company and commenced a project to develop an automated frozen warehouse in Setia Alaman, Klang, Selangor.

KC sees Malaysia as a key logistics hub within Southeast Asia, benefiting from geographic advantage, ongoing infrastructure development, and growing demand driven by e-commerce, economic growth, and halal exports.

In anticipation of a tight supply and demand balance of frozen and chilled warehouses in the Malaysian logistics market, KC aims to address logistics needs in the region by expanding its proven model of automated and energy-efficient frozen warehousing.

This expansion aligns with KC’s strategy to pursue markets that combine high growth potential with social significance and serves as a stepping stone for further growth across other ASEAN countries.
