Kaleris-Kerry Siam Seaport Alliance Gains Benchmark Operational Improvements

KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 (Bernama) -- Kaleris, a provider of supply chain technology solutions has partnered Kerry Siam Seaport Limited (KSSP), a multi-purpose deep sea port in Laem Chabang, Thailand, achieving benchmark operational improvements via an optimisation programme.

According to a statement, the programme optimised the Navis N4 Terminal Operating System to reduce truck driving distances by 20 per cent and container rehandles by 10 per cent, which significantly improved productivity and lowered carbon emissions.

The Kaleris Optimization Services team worked closely with KSSP to identify improvement opportunities in yard strategy, terminal truck operations, and vessel planning.

“By tailoring our knowledge of global operating best practices to align with local requirements, we devised creative solutions to address KSSP’s distinct challenges and improve productivity,” said Kaleris Chief Operating Officer, Molly Harrison.

Meanwhile, KSSP Director, Sirirat Srerattanamongkon said: “Kaleris delivered unmatched operational knowledge alongside a specialised approach that considered the uniqueness of our terminal operations while also sharing industry best practices.”

From the optimisation programme, KSSP experienced significant value including improved quay crane productivity by one point, providing accelerated service for customers; equipped yard planners with tools to manage the yard more strategically; and reduced drayage dwell time, thus creating a better experience for the KSSP trucking community.

As KSSP’s annual volume steadily grew and exceeded one million twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU), the terminal proactively launched an optimisation programme to ensure its operations would scale in the most efficient, sustainable and cost-effective way.
