BRIEFING SESSION ON THE PUBLIC CONSULTATION OF NEW COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT FRAMEWORK (NCEF)

Briefing session on the public consultation of New Communications Equipment Framework (NCEF)

PUTRAJAYA, June 11 (Bernama) -- Pursuant to the announcement on the public consultation of the proposed New Communications Equipment Framework (NCEF), the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) conducted a briefing session on June 6, 2024, at the Putrajaya Marriott Hotel. Around 170 participants, consisting of government representatives, association members, certifying agencies, and industry players, attended the session. 

The briefing aimed to clarify the proposed operating model of NCEF, provide explanations for the development of the new framework, and address any inquiries from industry stakeholders. NCEF, an approval framework for communications equipment, aims to meet modern market demands, boost the competitiveness of the communications and multimedia industry, while considering international best practices and stakeholder benefits.

The public consultation exercise commenced from May 20 to June 21, 2024, with the objective to seeking views and comments from all stakeholders of the industry, interested parties, and members of the public on the proposed new framework.
