A Year of Meaningful Milestones for LIAM
Speaking at the event, LIAM President Raymond Lew described 2024 as an extraordinary year for the life insurance industry. “Our five decades of service, reflect a journey marked by community impact and industry transformation. This year, LIAM spearheaded initiatives that touched many lives, promoted financial literacy, enhanced community welfare and supported sustainability efforts.”
“One of the most impactful initiatives during the year was LIAM’s support for the National Cancer Society and the ROSE Foundation. Through the Leaving No One Behind - HPV Vaccination and Screening Programme, we are making a real impact in our fight against cancer - the 3rd most common cancer among women in Malaysia. Our RM3.65 million investment has provided 100,000 young girls with HPV vaccinations and 10,000 women getting screened, across Malaysia.”
In August 2024, LIAM launched the i-MULA 50 Starter Pack Insurance Fund, with a total allocation of RM5 Million. This programme was designed to introduce 100,000 first-time insurance buyers to the importance of life insurance by offering them RM50 subsidy for each qualifying life insurance policy. The insurance coverage under i- MULA 50 includes benefits for death, total and permanent disability (TPD), critical illness, medical expenses, and hospital income.
In November, at the Karnival Celik Kewangan in Sarawak, we took another big step to improve insurance access in underserved areas. LIAM allocated RM500,000 from the RM5 million fund exclusively for Sarawak, reaffirming our commitment to expanding financial protection for all Malaysians. Since the launch in August 2024, we have seen a fantastic response. Close to 41,000 policies have been sold, utilising over RM2 million of the fund.
#LIAMGoldenMoments: A campaign with a cause
Meanwhile, LIAM CEO, Mark O’Dell, highlighted that the #LIAMGoldenMoments campaign strengthened LIAM’s commitment to community well-being, partnering with five NGOs and Social Enterprises by contributing RM 100,000 to support their impactful work. They are the Association of Learning Disabilities District of Petaling, Selangor (GOLD), Suri Lifestyle, Persatuan Wanita & Ibu Tunggal (WITUS), Reef Check Malaysia, and The Asli Co./Ajar Society. These five organisations also showcased their unique products and services at the event.
