KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- Beijing hosted the successful "Symposium on International Cooperation for Digital Product Passport (DPP) and International Standards for Entire Lifecycle Management", unveiling the MA-DPP Universal Framework V1.0—a major leap toward global supply chain digitalisation.

Organised by the International Identification Code Industry Alliance (ICA), the Zhongguancun Industry & Information Research Institute of Two-Dimensional Code Technology (ZIIOT), and the IEC 63538 Working Group, this open international public good is built on IEC 63538 standards.

According to ICA in a statement, it offers a unified framework, cloud, and open interface services designed to streamline cross-border collaboration and supply chain interoperability.

ICA Secretary-General and ZIIOT President, Zhang Chao likened the framework to a “digital utility tunnel”, essential for industrial resilience and green transformation, addressing long-standing challenges around data sharing, interconnection, and mutual recognition across product lifecycles.

Building on this vision, the symposium also saw the launch of the MA-STEEL-DPP Public Service Platform, marking the transition from theoretical innovation to practical industrial deployment.

Complementing this platform, the MA-DPP Global Ecosystem Partners Program was introduced to unite global stakeholders in co-developing and localising the framework. Over 20 major firms, including Siemens, have already joined.

The event drew wide international attention. Former European Parliament member Jo Leinen called it “a new stage of trust-based global cooperation”, while IEC/TC65 Chair, Rainer Schrundner praised its role in enhancing connectivity under the EU DPP system.

Meanwhile, ETSI TG34 Vice Chair, Olaf Wilmsmeier confirmed that the MA Identification System fully complies with European Union (EU) technical standards—strongly supporting the implementation of the European Green Deal.

The international endorsements underscore the growing relevance of the MA-DPP Universal Framework, which offers cutting-edge digital tools and new opportunities for green supply chain development.

Looking ahead, ICA plans to accelerate international standard efforts, strengthen collaboration with industry leaders to promote localised implementation, and jointly inject strong momentum into advancing global sustainable development.
