KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- The 2025 Global Digital Economy Conference (GDEC 2025) will be held in Beijing from July 2, under the theme “Building a Digitally Friendly City,” as announced at a press conference on June 23.
The event will adopt a “1+6+N” framework, comprising an opening ceremony, a main forum, thematic forums, and various special events, providing a global platform for collaboration and dialogue on digital economy development.
According to a statement, the conference will focus on four key pillars, namely openness and sharing, cutting-edge focus, industrial integration, and enhanced user experience.
For the first time, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is joining as a co-organiser, launching the “UNDP Digital Friendliness and Sustainable Innovation Lab for the Digital Economy”.
The event will also expand its global presence through partnerships with Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2025 and Germany’s FUTUROMUNDO Multikonferenz & Festival.
Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization Deputy Director, Liu Weiliang said the conference is expected to welcome over 300 international guests from more than 50 countries and key organisations, including the World Trade Organization (WTO), BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
A highlight of the event will be the “First Launch, First Showcase” programme, featuring cutting-edge technologies and digital applications, with the opening ceremony’s theme music video entirely generated by artificial intelligence (AI), including lyrics, vocals, and visuals, using AI-generated content (AIGC) technologies.
The conference will also test real-time AI-powered translation tools, smart seating systems, interactive mid-air teleprompters, and other innovative technologies and products.
In support of industrial growth, 46 forums will explore emerging sectors such as AI integration, digital security, data elements, and digital healthcare. A new “AIGC Creator Track” in the Digital Economy Innovation Competition will promote AI applications in the arts.
Meanwhile, a 6,000-square-metre Digital Economy Experience Center will offer immersive digital content as part of the "Digital Economy Experience Week", alongside a curated “Digital Trend Market” to showcase consumer products such as smart wearables and digital culture technologies.
