KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 (Bernama) -- Oki Electric Industry (OKI), Japan's leading information and telecommunication manufacturer, has launched its Projection Assembly System in Thailand and Indonesia to support assembly and quality inspection processes, accelerating the digital transformation (DX) of manufacturing sites.
OKI in a statement said the system combines projector-based task guidance with image-sensing technologies to help manufacturing operations achieve consistent, high-quality output regardless of worker experience.
Southeast Asian manufacturing sites continue to face rising labour turnover, diverse workforces, and widening disparities in work quality.
Positioned as the starting point for OKI’s global expansion of its manufacturing DX solutions, the rollout is expected to help address diverse on-site challenges through multilingual support, enhanced system functionality and collaboration with local partners.
The Projection Assembly System is part of OKI’s initiative to externalise technologies and expertise developed in its own factories. The solution draws on insights from OKI’s assembly processes and has already been introduced at more than 100 manufacturing sites in Japan and at the company’s overseas facilities.
Leveraging this operational experience, OKI will extend global support beginning in Thailand and Indonesia to assist customers facing similar productivity and quality challenges.
The latest version of the system features expanded functions aimed at reducing human error, lowering training burdens and improving productivity through work-history analysis.
Upgrades include multilingual support in English, Thai and Indonesian—configurable per worker—simplified setup procedures, and real-time monitoring of work status and operational data.
