KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 -- A live streaming activity, ‘Breakfast in Thousands of Cities, A Bite of Wenchang’, was recently held in Wenchang, a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in China, aimed at introducing special delicacies in Wenchang to netizens at home and abroad.
According to Wenchang Convergence Media Center, the streaming activity themed ‘Fall in Love with a City’ was also held to take in the history and culture with Nanyang characteristics.
While the live streaming activity attracted 560,000 netizens, Wenchang - benefiting from dazzling sorts of food and unique overseas Chinese hometown culture - has become a new Internet sensation, popular with netizens.
Located in the northeast of Hainan Free Trade Port, scenic Wenchang boasting of abundant cultural and tourist resources, and characteristic food, is home to the more than six-century-old Wenchang Confucius Temple, and the first low-latitude coastal launch site in China.
According to a statement, the famous Hainanese chicken rice which was spread over Southeast Asia in the late 19th century and in the early 20th century, is a dish of poached Wenchang chicken and seasoned rice.
